Books!!! That’s ALL baby K wants…to read more and more books! And her dad and I love it even though we hear the word “un-yeh” (again) about a hundred times each day. K LOVES books…especially ones that have pictures of food in them! Her favorites (this one being her first), all have to do with food ~ Yum Yum Dim Sum, Eating the Alphabet: Fruits & Vegetables from A to Z, Yellow and Yummy: A Book About Colors and Apple Park Picnic Pals.

Cookbooks, on the other hand, are another story. With REAL photographs of familiar foods and mouth watering meals are on every page (or at least the ones we have!), K just wants to eat every bite of what’s on them! Today I’ll share two of my favorite baby & toddler cookbooks…

A close friend of mine (a mama-to-be this summer) gave our family a copy of The Baby and Toddler Cookbook: Fresh, Homemade Foods for a Healthy Start for Christmas and we love the simple, fresh, palatable ideas and photos of a variety of baby & toddler meals. It goes through all the stages and gives insightful tips and information about introducing new foods/textures. I highly recommend this cookbook and have even gifted one to my friend Mama Dar whose Baby R is already enjoying its meals!

A friend, Mama Beth gave me this cute and simple cookbook (500 Baby & Toddler Dishes) that has an impressive 500 dishes for baby & toddler! Months before K was even born, I would flip through the colorful pages taking note of which dishes I wanted to make and excitedly imagine how life would be in the kitchen months from then ~ pureeing foods in a blender and preparing healthy dishes for baby. Til this day I love trying new recipes from this cookbook and tinkering with the ingredients to make them grain-free for our family.

I LOVE the fact that most of the recipes in these two cookbooks are not only delicious and appetizing for baby K, but for my husband and me as well!

Do you have a favorite cookbook or two? If so, please share!
